Benefit Screening of "Evoluntionary Blues" for KPFZ on Friday, July 13, 2018

Help support KPFZ by joining us on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. for the exclusive Lake County viewing of the documentary film, Evoluntionary Blues.

The Blues is an earthy, soul-stirring mélange of roots music and personal narratives that became the defining soundtrack of Black America. Wherever Black people settled that soundtrack took on a local flavor. In Northern California, the influences came from the musicianship of Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma.  Seventh Street in West Oakland supported and bolstered Blacks who answered the call of the war effort in the late 1940’s. Entrepreneurship created a fully contained community that provided work, homes and all the necessities of life including a fully developed music scene. Watch as more than 30 local musicians share their inspiration and describe the trajectory of the Oakland Blues: how it evolved and what it has become.  For more information, visit their website at https://evolutionarybluesfilm.com/

Following the film, Director Cheryl Fabio will be available for a question and answer session.

The viewing will be held at the Lower Lake Schoolhouse Museum in the Weaver Auditorium.  The Museum is located at 16435 Main Street in Lower Lake.  Tickets are $12.50 for KPFZ members and $15 for general admission.  This is an intimate environment with limited seating so get your tickets early.  Tickets may be purchased at Watershed Books, 305 N. Main Street, Lakeport or at the KPFZ Studios, 149 N. Main Street, Lakeport.
