Rockin' the Lake's "Q" Wins Star Award

Susie "Q" Novak and GelattoCongratulations to KPFZ's own Rocker Chick, "Q", on winning the Spirit Award at the Lake County Stars award ceremony held on Saturday, February 11, 2017!

The Lake County Stars is sponsored annually by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.  The event is designed to recognize individuals, organizations, and business that go above and beyond in Lake County.  Anyone can submit letters to nominate someone they feel deserves recognition.  In addition to the publicly nominated categories, there is a category for the Spirit Award.  The recipient of this award is chosen by the Selection Committee from the nominations received.  It is intended to recognize those who epitomize the spirit of Lake County.

"Q" aka Susie Novak was nominated in the Woman of the Year category.  While she did not win the Woman of the Year award, "Q" won the Spirit Award.  She was nominated for the work she did in establishing and coordinating the Community Care Center at the Brick Hall in Lower Lake after the Clayton Fire.  Q arranged for permission to use the hall, worked with other agencies to provide services, organized volunteers, cooked, cleaned, shopped, and whatever else needed to be done.  Q also brought Rocker Dog Gelatto to the hall where he served as the Lower Lake Ambassador to greet and help comfort those affected by the fire.

Take a minute to call and congratulate "Q" during the live broadcast of Rockin' the Lake on Wednesdays between 3-5 p.m.  We've always known how awesome "Q" is and now the rest of the county does too!  The studio can be reached by calling 707/263.3435.  Rockin' the Lake is rebroadcast on Saturday mornings from 3-5 a.m.

Congratulations!
